These are the words spoken by the Lone Ranger to his horse named Silver. The Lone Ranger was a popular radio show and then TV show that started in America way back in the 1930’s. Here’s some interesting info about the show.

On TV, The Lone Ranger starred Clayton Moore. It lasted 221 Episodes. The Lone Ranger originated on WXYZ radio in Detroit in 1933. It was created by George W. Trendle and written by Fran Striker. At one point, the show became so popular it was one of the reasons why several stations linked together to share programming on what became the Mutual Broadcasting System. This was the beginning of syndication. Although it was aimed primarily at children, it appealed to people of all ages. The Lone Ranger made a successful transition to ABC television in 1949.

Several aspects of the show were unique and central to the premise of this western, and the initial episode which explained the legend was occasionally repeated so young viewers would understand how the hero gained his name and why he wore a mask. The Lone Ranger was one of six Texas Rangers who were ambushed while chasing a gang of outlaws led by Butch Cavendish. After that battle, one lone cowboy survived, and was discovered by Tonto, a Native American who recognized him as John Reid. The interesting thing about John was that he was the man who had saved Tonto’s life earlier. Tonto thereafter referred to the ranger as ‘kemo sabe’, which is translated as ‘trusty scout’. After Tonto helped him regain his strength, the ranger vowed to hide his identity from Cavendish and to dedicate his life to ‘making the West a decent place to live’. He and Tonto dug an extra grave to fool Cavendish into believing all six rangers had died, and John wore a mask to protect his identity as the single surviving ranger.

Only Tonto knows the true identity of the Lone Ranger. After he and Tonto saved a silver-white stallion from being gored by a buffalo, they nursed the horse back to health and set him free. The horse followed them and the Lone Ranger decided to adopt him and give him the name Silver. Shortly thereafter, the Lone Ranger and Tonto encountered a man who was framed for murders committed by Cavendish. They set him up as caretaker in an abandoned silver mine, where he produced silver bullets for the Lone Ranger. Even after the Cavendish gang was captured, the Lone Ranger decided to keep his identity a secret. Near the end of this and many future episodes, someone asks about the identity of the masked man. The typical response: “I don’t rightly know his real name, but I’ve heard him called the Lone Ranger.”

The Lone Ranger engaged in plenty of action, but his silver bullets were symbols of ‘justice by law’, and were never used to kill. For the children’s audience, he represented clean living and noble effort in the cause of fighting crime. In each episode, the Lone Ranger voiced a hearty “Hi-Ho, Silver, away” as he rode off in a cloud of dust. Clayton Moore is most closely associated with the TV role, but John Hart played the Lone Ranger for two seasons. The part of Tonto was played by Jay Silverheels. The Lone Ranger has also been the subject of comic books and movies.

Throughout the years, perhaps no fictional action hero has become as established in the American culture through as many media forms as the Lone Ranger. Clayton Moore even made personal appearances in costume as the Lone Ranger for many years to entertain fans. Millions today still remember the famous words: “Hi ho Silver… away!”

Then the holes are covered with silver and it is almost impossible to tell this has been done. Always purchase bars from a reputable dealer who is prepared to authenticate the bars as genuine as this is important when one comes to resell them at a later stage.

Size. Silver bar sizes vary from small 1 ounce wafers to 1000 ounce sizes. The 1,000 ounce silver bullion bar is the standard industry unit and traditionally used for trading and storage. It weighs 68 pounds, though, so many people prefer to have it stored as opposed to delivered to their door. The size, weight and maker should be stamped on each bar. The small one ounce bars are really only for collectors as the mark up and shipping costs outweigh the investment value. Ten, one hundred, and one thousand ounce bars are better for investment purposes. Silver ingots are the larger bars and tend to be rough and are used by jewelers and for industrial purposes.

Cost. The cost should be based on the current price of silver. Silver is much less expensive than gold, so you are able to buy much more. Many people in the know say that silver will be reaching the price of gold some day. If so, that would be wonderful for the many silver investors. But no one knows for sure. You can check prices daily in the newspaper or online. You will notice that all dealers add a fee to cover their costs. Make sure the fee is reasonable and do a little comparison shopping in your area to get the best deal. Since service and quality are minor considerations here, the price should drive your decision. Just make sure the place you deal with is reputable.

Safety. If you must store your silver bars yourself, get a good quality safe and do not tell anyone you have precious metals on hand. Bars of silver or gold and jewelry are some of the first things a robber wants to take from you. They are very valuable, very portable and easy to resell for quick cash. They also can be very difficult to identify. So, once it’s gone, it may be impossible to get back. Be careful with your precious metals and gems. Some of the best storage options are with the dealer or in a safe deposit box.

Dealer. Settle in on a dealer you feel good about and one recommended by someone you trust. Make sure they conform to your requirements in the above areas and have someone there that will help you with all questions. If you aren’t getting helpful and timely service with your purchase, cancel them and go with someone you can count on.

After the purchase. Keep track of your investment. When you buy silver bars the idea is to make a profit, of course. Keep an eye on the market prices. Be sure to keep complete records of your transactions for taxes. Some say that more than 95% of all the silver ever mined throughout history has already been consumed by industry. That silver is gone forever. In 1900, there were approximately 12 billion ounces of silver in the world. Today, that figure has fallen to about 300 million ounces of above-ground, refined silver. This means that at current prices, it would only take about six billion dollars to purchase all of the above-ground silver in the world today. This makes investing in silver today a truly excellent idea.

Abalone shells have rounded or oval with a big dome towards one end. The Abalone shell has a row of respiratory pores. Yong abalones feed on rock-encrusting coralline algae and on diatom and bacterial films. Adult abalones feed primarily on loose pieces of marine algae drifting with the surge or current. Large brown algae such as giant kelp, bull kelp, feather boa kelp and elk kelp are preferred, although other species of algae may be eaten in various times.

Eggs of abalone and larvae are consumed by filter-feeding fish and shellfish. Predators of juvenile abalones include crabs, lobsters, gastropods, octopuses, starfish, and fishes. The bat ray in southern California and the sea otter in central California prey selectively on larger abalones.
